Background:

Bayshore CAPA began in 2004 as Bayshore Arts, a 501 C-3 grass roots organization founded by a few local visual artists and community members.  It expanded to include the performing arts in 2006, and in 2007 formally defined its mission “To create a state of the art multi-use flex-space Cultural and Performing Arts Center that showcases local visual and performing artists, thereby providing accessible, affordable cultural, educational and performing opportunities for the community”.  In 2008, Bayshore Arts re-named itself Bayshore Cultural and Performing Arts Center, Inc. and promoted the resolution passed by the Collier Redevelopment Agency and the County Commission to create the Bayshore Cultural District.

Naples Orchestra and Chorus

Established 20 years ago, the Naples Orchestra & Chorus returns to the series with a performance of classical and popular music sure to please everyone!

Did you know that a 900-1200 seat multiuse flex space Cultural and Performing Arts Center is being planned for the Bayshore Cultural Arts District in Collier County?

What does this mean for our community-our future:

* Envision a unique project that will add value to the surrounding communities.

* A structure that is elegant, artistic, and becomes a destination point for all to enjoy.

* A facility promoting collaboration and communication that has the potential of making dreams come true.

The arts are more than just music, painting, and acting. They are an expression from within one's self and soul. They allow us to tell a story through sight, sound, emotion, imagination, and touch. They will provide our children and young adults an opportunity to tune into their inner beauty and express themselves in ways they never thought possible and will allow others to gain self-confidence and pride. The project has endless opportunities for all who embrace its magic.

The Bayshore Cultural and Performing Arts Center will be an exciting and unique cultural, educational, and economic collaboration. A Visioning Panel has been formed that includes Bayshore Cultural and Performing Arts (CAPA), the Bayshore Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA), the Naples Botanical Garden, and several important educational institutions in an effort to make this a true Community Project.

As a result of the "partnerships", CAPA will present fourteen programs this season!

* Bayshore Festival of the Arts: January 28th and 29th. CAPA will present 250 local musicians (15 ensembles), an art show and the Band of the United States Air Force Reserve from Warner Robins Air Force Base, Georgia, at Sugden Regional Park, 11 AM-6 PM. Admission is FREE.

* Jazz in the Park is a six-part series presented by Bayshore CAPA the 3rd Sunday of each month November-April, 2-4 PM in Sugden Regional Park. Admission is free.

* Erich Kunzel Community Concert Series sponsored by Fifth Third Bank: Edison State College, Collier Campus, will partner with CAPA, presenting monthly concerts November-April, 7 PM, in the auditorium. Admission: Adults, $10; Students, $5. For tickets go to www.bayshorecapa.org.
