Jazz in the Park
Second Annual Jazz Series Announced
Background:
Bayshore CAPA began in 2004 as Bayshore Arts, a 501 C-3 grass roots organization founded by a few local visual artists and community members. It expanded to include the performing arts in 2006, and in 2007 formally defined its mission “To create a state of the art multi-use flex-space Cultural and Performing Arts Center that showcases local visual and performing artists, thereby providing accessible, affordable cultural, educational and performing opportunities for the community”. In 2008, Bayshore Arts re-named itself Bayshore Cultural and Performing Arts Center, Inc. and promoted the resolution passed by the Collier Redevelopment Agency and the County Commission to create the Bayshore Cultural District.

Concert stars are as follows:
Patricia Dean Trio- November 20, 2011
Dean is one of the few artists in
the history of jazz who plays drums and sings, and who does both at an
exceptional level. She has performed with Jazz legends such as Nat
Adderley, Ira Sullivan, John LaPorta, Brazilian pianist Manfredo Fest,
and saxophonist Bobby Militello. She recently opened for smooth Jazz
artists Mindi Abair and David Benoit for the 2011 Punta Gorda Wine and
Jazz Fest.
Patricia Dean
Jerry Stawski Quartet -- December 18, 2011
Stawski began playing jazz so young
he helped found the jazz school of his alma mater, Florida State
University. People who buy QRS piano rolls are actually hearing
Stawski's arrangements of composers such as Harold Arlen and of songs
that defined Frank Sinatra. He plays regularly at the Ritz
Carlton/Naples and The Ritz Carlton at Tiburon, and when jazz
personalities like Ira Sullivan come to Miami, it's often Stawski
playing with them.
Bob Zottola EJB Quintet- January 15, 2012
Zottola's background is extensive
and impressive. He has performed with the Air Force's Airmen of Note,
Charlie Barnet, Maynard Ferguson, Woody Herman, recorded and toured with
keyboard legend Chick Corea, and beginning in the early 1980s, played in
Frank Sinatra's New York band. Before moving to Naples, he played for
the Broadway show, "Les Miserables" for 16 years.
Dan Heck Trio - February 19, 2012
Heck is a jazz guitarist/bassist
and composer currently living and working in Naples, Florida. With two
very musical parents he was encouraged early to pursue music, starting
on cello at age four. He was playing bass in bands by the third grade
and was playing jobs around Long Island on guitar in his early teens.
Dan is a graduate of Berklee College of Music and has been a
professional musician for over 20 years in Boston, New York, Paris and
Seattle. He has performed at many prestigious venues around the world
including the Blue Note in New York and the Space Needle in Seattle. He
can be heard on dozens of recordings as both a sideman and a leader and
is a co-founder of the award winning Seattle jazz ensemble, Bebop and
Destruction. Dan's playing is best described as "modern jazz" with a
heavy "bop" influence.
Jebry and Friends Quintet- March 18, 2012
Jebry has sung with such greats as
Bobby McFerrin, Wes Montgomery, Kenny Drew Jr., Lionel Hampton, and with
the great Harry James in the late 60's. She has traveled around the
world working clubs and jazz festivals and continues to sell out
concerts in Naples, Florida where she currently resides.
David Pringle Trio - April 15, 2012
Pringle is an internationally
renowned pianist, director, composer and arranger. Music Director for
Oscar Peterson in "Jazz at the Gateway," a 16 part TV series, winner of
the gold medal for the New York International Film and TV Festival,
piano soloist and conductor on ten CD's, David is a Naples Treasure.
